Dismantling the lies of performance and external labels to fully embrace the truth of who you are as God's deliberate, chosen creation. This is the starting point for all purpose.
Focus: Knowing who you are in Christ
Anchor Scripture: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.— Psalm 139:13–14
This exercise helps identify labels and roles you may have unconsciously allowed to define your worth and direct your life.
Labels I Have Carried: List five roles, titles, or labels (good or bad) that you currently or historically define yourself by (e.g., Busy Mom, Failed Entrepreneur, People Pleaser, Caretaker, The Smart One).
____________________________
____________________________
____________________________
External Validation: If I lost all the above labels today (my job, my title, my role), my sense of worth would be:
Strong
Shaken
Lost
The Lie: Write down one lie about yourself that you believe holds you back from stepping into your full purpose (e.g., I’m not qualified, I’m too old, I don't have enough time, I'm too damaged).
The Lie: ______________________________________________________________
This exercise resets your foundation based on biblical truth.
My New Name: Use the following scriptures (or others you know) to write five declarations about who God says you are.
Example: I am a Saint/Child of God (Ephesians 1:1, Romans 8:16).
I am ____________________________ (Scripture: ____________________________)
I am ____________________________ (Scripture: ____________________________)
I am ____________________________ (Scripture: ____________________________)
I am ____________________________ (Scripture: ____________________________)
I am ____________________________ (Scripture: ____________________________)
The Truth: Write a counter-declaration for the lie you listed in Section A, based on the truth of Scripture.
The Lie: ______________________________________________________________
The Truth: ______________________________________________________________
Mentor Circle Focus: Share one of your new "New Name" declarations and explain what difference it makes in your daily decision-making.
Personal Purpose Prompt: This week, whenever you feel insecure or inadequate, verbally declare The Truth (from Section B) three times. How did this simple act shift your perspective?
Notes on Perspective Shift: ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Who You Say I Am (Hillsong Worship)
Book: Victory Over the Darkness by Neil T. Anderson
Summary
Anderson argues that most Christians struggle because they have a "victim" or "sinner" identity rather than a "saint" identity.
The Transformation: When you are born again, you aren't just a "forgiven sinner"; you are a new creation.
The Mirror of Word: You must view yourself through God’s "mirror" (Scripture) rather than the world's mirror (performance, appearance, or opinions of others).
The "darkness" mentioned in the title refers to the lies and strongholds that the enemy plants in our thoughts.
Winning the War: Victory is won by replacing lies with truth. If you believe a lie, you will live as if it’s true.
Right Thinking leads to Right Living: You cannot consistently behave in a way that is inconsistent with how you perceive yourself. If you perceive yourself as a failure, you will fail. If you perceive yourself as "dearly loved" and "completely accepted," your behavior will eventually align.
This is a critical distinction for your participants:
Position: Your legal standing before God (Righteous, Holy, Redeemed). This never changes.
Condition: Your daily walk and struggle with sin. This fluctuates.
The Secret: To improve your condition, you must focus on your position.
The book outlines how to break "mental strongholds"—deeply ingrained patterns of thought that were formed by past trauma or bad habits.
Faith is the Bridge: Faith is simply "acting on what you believe to be true."
Personal Responsibility: While God provides the power, we must choose to "renew our minds" (Romans 12:2) daily.
Anderson provides a famous list of "Who I Am in Christ" statements. For your Purpose Portfolio, these are essential. They include:
I am the salt of the earth Matthew 5:13
I am a child of God John 1:12
I am a friend of Jesus John 5:15
I have been justified Romans 5:1.
